Florida Truck Driver Wins Allied Van Lines SPD Driver of the Year Award
(Vocus) April 15, 2010 -- Allied Van Lines Inc., one of the world’s largest moving companies (http://www.allied.com/) and a subsidiary of SIRVA Inc., announced its Special Products Division’s 2009 Driver of the Year as Steven Wells of Tampa, Fla. Steven was selected from a group of over 50 qualified Allied Van Lines Special Products Division haulers based on his 2009 quality scores, claims frequency and safety record.
Steven began his career with Allied in 1999 as a local mover for Werner Donaldson, a Tampa-based moving company (http://www.allied.com/tampa-fl-moving-companies.aspx). When Werner Donaldson expanded its services to offer a Special Products Division (SPD), Steven moved into an operational management role and started driving their southwest Florida moving (http://www.allied.com/movers/florida/sarasota.aspx) fan routes. In 2006, Steven and his wife decided to purchase a truck and a year later started working for Allied SPD as an independent contractor.
“Not only has Steven’s performance been stellar this year, but he was also a nominee for the award last year,” said John Ainlay, president of Allied Special Products Division. “We’re honored to have Steven as a part of our fleet and we thank him for his continuous dedication to safety and customer service.”
All Allied SPD drivers are evaluated based on customer feedback scores, on-time delivery, claims frequency, safety record and other performance metrics for the prior year. One Allied Van Lines SPD driver is chosen each year and is honored at the company’s annual operations conference. The winning driver also receives a custom plaque, leather jacket and watch, truck decals and other “perks.”
